Floods can occur from broken water lines, faulty appliances, sewage backups, failed fixtures, basement seepage and of course mother nature. In most cases the sooner the situation is addressed the lessor will be the damage to the structure.
Water resulting from drains or ground water can be heavily contaminated with sewer, bacteria and organisms which can cause sickness & infections. Also be aware of electrical power outlets if wet can cause shorts and possible damage to electrical appliances or injury.
The first step is to ensure the area is safe of hazards, next is to determine the source of the flooding to determine if we can dry or if affected materials will need to be removed and what contents can be salvaged. Pending on the area affected contents may have to be moved to a secured outside storage container or to Universals heated storage ware house.
Universal Restorations water crews are well trained in the science of structural drying, relative humidity must be controlled in order to prevent secondary damage through condensation. For larger drying requirements Universal is the only restoration contractor with a trailer mount heat dry system for rapid dry and minimum down time. Once the drying process has been complete we can further proceed in repairing and subsequent damage.
